PCQI stands for Preventive Controls Qualified Individual. It is a training program designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to develop and implement a food safety plan to comply with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC) requirements.
The PCQI training is required for facilities that are required to register with the FDA and implement a food safety plan under the FDA’s Preventive Controls for Human Food rule. This rule is part of the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The PCQI training covers a variety of topics, including hazard analysis, preventive controls, monitoring and verification activities, and corrective actions. It is typically offered by food safety training organizations or educational institutions.
